Master’s Letter | February 2011

Dearest Brethren and Friends,

Just into the second month of the year - and already, we are running at a very steady clip!

On December 29th, we had a special “Masters Table” dinner - open to family members - to celebrate St. John the Evangelist Day. The event was at Conor O’Neill’s in Ann Arbor - and was a wonderful evening for the Brethren and our loved ones. Our “Masters Table” dinners, typically open to Masons and men interested in Masonry, serve a very important purpose. The first, to build regular fellowship into our busy schedules. Second, to allow friends and others interested in Masonry to come ask questions, meet the Brethren - and see what our Lodge and the Craft has to offer them. If you have not been to one of these dinners, I encourage you to come. Be sure to watch our Trestleboard for the fourth Wednesday of each month to see where we will be dining next.

During the month of January, we also started our new series of rehearsals for our degrees. It is the plan to meet on the second Wednesday of each month to rehearse for our Special Communications - usually held on the third Wednesday of each month. Our first rehearsal of the year proved to be very helpful. It also led to the success of our first EA degree of 2011, where three new Brethren joined our Lodge. The music provided by our new Lodge Musician, Bro. Steven Simpson, added a stunning element to the evening.

There is a new e-mail list for members of our Lodge to communicate. With so many Brethren dispersed around the globe - this mailing list is an excellent manner to be apprised of what is happening back here in Ann Arbor. If you wish to sign up, please visit the following website: http://bit.ly/aaf262_mailing_list
NOTE: When you applying for group membership, be sure to place ONLY your FULL NAME into the two fields as you fill out the application.

At our Regular Communication in January, several committees were created:

  • By-Laws
  • Communication
  • Fund-raising
  • Masonic Home
  • Member Development
  • Delinquent Dues
  • Social Events
  • Outreach/Charity
  • Finance

Committees will make a monthly report on their activities. If you have interest in serving as a member on these committees, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Remember - with the efforts of several, we accomplish even greater things.

A new event for the family made it’s debut in January as well - Family Game Night. Every second Friday at 6:00PM, we are gathering with our family and friends at Zal Gaz Grotto for dinner and fun. The dinners at the Grotto are tasty and affordable, complete with a large-screen television and a Nintendo Wii, steel-tipped darts and table shuffleboard. Please feel free to bring a game to play with others, as well! It’s a great opportunity for all of our families and friends to gather and have a great time.

Our annual Past Master’s Roast and Awards Dinner will be held on February 26th at the Quarter Bistro in Ann Arbor. Come celebrate the accomplishments of our members, and roast our Junior Past Master, W. Bro. Robert C. Blackburn, PM. Tickets are limited - and in demand! Be sure to contact our Junior Warden, Bro. Scott Graf or our Treasurer, W. Bro. Art Davidge, PM to purchase them.

From our Lodge to you and your families, we wish you the best of health and happiness.

Warmest fraternal regards,

brian cors
Worshipful Master
