Master’s Letter | June 2011

Greetings to all Brethren and Friends!

June for most Lodges means the last month before a break in the Masonic year. Our growing and thriving Lodge will continue to be active throughout the upcoming months - particularly with Master Mason degrees in June and July. Please also note there will be a Regular Communication on the evening of July 6, 2011 - making up for the meeting cancelled in February, due to inclement weather.

In May, we were privileged to have visiting Brothers from Windsor Lodge No. 403 of the Grand Lodge A.F & A.M. of Canada in the Province of Ontario. It was an honor to be able to show them the workings of our Master Mason degree. It was a particularly heartfelt and memorable evening, as we also watched a father raise a son. Truly, an evening to remember, for many reasons.

Our Lodge has been honored in an incredible way. W. Bro. Art Davidge, PM has been named as the Grand Lodge of Michigan’s “State Mason of the Year”. Art’s dedication to our own Lodge and Masonry as a whole is selfless and steadfast. I can think of no other man more worthy of such an honor, and am incredibly pleased this has been bestowed on our Worshipful Brother Art. He was presented this award at the Grand Lodge of Michigan’s Annual Communication on May 24, 2011. Please extend your well wishes to W. Bro. Art the next time you communicate with him.

We continue to build the bonds of fellowship outside of Lodge. Our monthly Family Game Night has been a success, and we recently had a lovely dinner at the Gandy Dancer with our Brothers and their wives and partners. The first meeting of our Book Club will be on June 7th. Next month’s Master’s Table dinner will be at the Sidetrack in Ypsilanti. It is open to all Brothers - and please feel free to bring anyone you know who has been curious about Freemasonry - or interested in joining us.

Please keep our Brethren who are far away or ailing in your thoughts. In particular, W. Bro. Jimmy Green and W. Bro. Paul Contos - both who have dealt with serious health issues recently.

In conclusion - this year is amazingly already half over. We have been working hard, and have accomplished many things - with more work to be done and fellowship to be had. Never hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss what is happening in your Lodge. I’d love to talk.

From our Lodge to you and your families, we wish you the very best of health and happiness.

Warmest fraternal regards,

Brian Cors
Worshipful Master

Master’s Letter | May 2011

Greetings to all Brethren and Friends!

May has arrived, and with it - several Fellowcrafts! We had an incredible evening, passing ten Brothers to their second degree. As we begin our Master Mason degrees starting on May 18th, we are also starting something very exciting, as these Brothers make their progress. After our Regular Communication meetings for the next several months, Brother Clinton Bartholomew [SW] and W. Robert C. Blackburn will be holding a series of lectures, during our afterglow. These lectures will contain information about the history of Freemasonry, leading up to a final talk about the genesis of the Master Mason Degree. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

As Masons, education and discourse are vital. In this light, our Lodge has started a brand new book club, and our first selection is, “Cracking the Freemason’s Code” by L.D. Cooper.  Brother Lee Clark has been in contact with the author, who kindly submitted additional materials for us to consider during our discussion. If you are interested in getting involved with this new venture, please contact any of your Lodge Officers - and we will send you details. This book club is open to not just our Lodge - Brothers from other Lodges are welcome to participate.

On May 21 we will tour the fantastic Detroit Masonic Temple.  This architectural treasure is the largest masonic structure in the world, and it is here in Detroit.  Join us on the tour, it will be also open to non-masons, so invite your lady or friend!

The next several months will continue to be exciting and busy for our Lodge. Degree work will continue throughout the year - and with wonderful weather approaching - many opportunities for visitation and fellowship. One can always find more details about any of our events here on our website and our Trestleboard therein.

From our Lodge to you and your families, we wish you the very best of health and happiness.

Warmest fraternal regards,

brian cors

Master’s Letter | April 2011

Dearest Brethren and Friends,

As April approaches, we have 14 new Entered Apprentices eager to pursue their continued journey into our time-honored fraternity. Join us as we confer their Fellowcraft Degree on April 20th at the Pittsfield Grange. We are going to be very busy that evening! All of our Lodge Stewards - if not more Brethren - will be needed to assist with this very special evening. If you have not been to Lodge lately, please come and lend a hand!

On April 23rd we will be honoring the District Mason of the Year – our own Worshipful Bro. Art Davidge, PM. This dinner will be held at Zal Gaz Grotto, on Stadium Boulevard. RSVPs with dinner selection are due to our Junior Warden, Bro. Scott Graf no later than April 16th. Dinner will be $12, and the main entrees to choose from will be New York strip steak, chicken breast or linguini with Alfredo sauce. Please come and help honor Worshipful Brother Art!

Visitation is an important part of every Mason’s journey. By encountering new
Lodges in new places, one experiences the subtle nuances between different Lodges, different states and different countries. In Michigan, we are fortunate to have strong ties with our Prince Hall Brethren. An incredible opportunity will happen on Saturday, April 30th - a joint Master Mason Degree with the Grand Lodge of Michigan and the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Michigan. We surely will be arranging carpools to attend this event. Please contact me if you are interested in attending. EDIT: Unfortunately this event has been canceled

Interested in wearables? If you missed the first edition of our T-shirts and hooded sweatshirts, fear not. Bro. Bob Hospadaruk has done an excellent job once again in putting together an updated design for us. T-shirts are $15 and hooded sweatshirts are $30. Ordering information  can be found here on our site [NOTE: All orders are due on April 20]

Remember, one can always find more details about any of our events on this website and our Trestleboard therein. From our Lodge to you and your families, we wish you the very best of health and happiness.

Master’s Letter | March 2011

Dearest Brethren and Friends,

March is here! Just as the month of March arrives, the steady march of amazing activity at our Lodge continues.

We were fortunate to bring two new men into Masonry in February, both eager to become part of our Lodge and of our globe- spanning fraternity. Our monthly rehearsals for degree work are bringing further precision and decorum into our ceremonies, coupled with the work of our skilled musician. This month we are going to be holding not one, but two degree ceremonies, both Entered Apprentice Degrees on March 16th and March 30th.

In February, we also had an incredible Masters’ Table event at Bar Louie. Those that dined with us were members, current candidates and men about to begin their journey in Freemasonry. Our next Masters Table dinner will be held on March 23rd at the Asia City restaurant in Ypsilanti.

Speaking of those entering into our Craft – our Lodge is investing much time and energy into our revitalized Intender Program. Our Intenders [mentors] are working with our new initiates from the beginning of their journey through the completion of their Blue Lodge degrees. This program guides the candidate through each degree, allows them to delve deeper, to ask questions and create strong ties with their Lodge Brethren. I want to give special thanks to Bro. Erik Harclerode & W. Bro’s Justin Krasnoff and Rich Wilcox for their work in making this program enriching and successful.

Please join us on March 19th for a visit to the Masonic Pathways in Alma for Junior Deacon Day. It is a great day to learn about what Masonic Pathways does for its residents and what our Lodges can do to ensure its continued success. That day in particular is an excellent opportunity to visit and catch up with Brethren from our Lodge who currently reside there. Click here for details and please RSVP with our Junior Deacon, Bob Hospadaruk.

Remember, one can always find more detail about any of our events our Trestleboard [calendar].

To you and your families, we wish you the very best of health and happiness.

Warmest fraternal regards,
